A Chittagong court has granted three-day remand for a member of the newly traced Shaheed Hamja Brigade in a case lodged with Banshkhali police station on February 21 under Anti-Terrorism Act over the outfit’s military camp busting incident.
The Banshkhali court’s Senior Judicial Magistrate Sazzad Hossain passed the order Thursday when the arrestee Anwar Hossain was produced before the court by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) with five-day remand plea, said court sources.
Alleged SHB’s bomb-explosives supplier Anwar was nabbed from the city’s Akbar Shah area on June 5 while he was previously shown arrested in a case lodged with Halishahar police station on this February 29 over SHB’s explosives warehouse busting incident.
“He was previously remanded on Halishahar’s case and gave his statement,” said RAB-7 Commanding Office Lieutenant Colonel Mifta Uddin Ahmed.
Anwar’s link was found in Banshkhali’s incident. So, he was showed arrest in Banshkhali’s case and pleaded for remand, said Mifta.
RAB said Chittagong based SHB -- modeled as like as Syria-based International militant outfit Mujahidin -- was formed in November, 2013 with former members of Islami Chhatra Shibir, Hefazate Islam and other militant groups.
The elite force from February till June seized 25 sophisticated native and foreign made arms including eight AK-22 rifles, 4443 rounds of bullet, 76 powerful bombs, 150 kilogrammes of explosives, 30 kinds of bomb making materials by which 2,000 bombs would be make and huge number of documents.
SHB’s theoretical training centre was also busted on February 19 while its military training centre was busted on February 21 and explosives warehouse discovered on February 29.
RAB-7 nabbed 29 SHB members so far; however, the kingpin of the outfit is on the run.
Besides, they also nabbed three lawyers and an apparel businessman charging with financing the militant organisation while they also found another Dubai Citizen Allama Libdi’s link with the funding to SHB.
