Dengue claims two lives as 639 cases recorded in 24 hours

Since the start of the dengue outbreak, Bangladesh has recorded 65 deaths and 22,243 cases this year

Health officials on Thursday said they recorded 639 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours.

"During the period, (of the 639) 80 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 95 in Chittagong division, 92 in Dhaka division, 109 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 100 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 103 in Khulna division, 43 in Mymensingh division, 51 in Rajshahi division, 15 in Rangpur division and five in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 65 deaths while the disease inflicted 22,243.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
