In an effort to contain the spread of a new sub-variant of the coronavirus and dengue, the authorities have issued five health-related directives for educational institutions, including the mandatory wearing of masks.
On Sunday, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) issued an office order to implement the guidelines provided by both the Ministry of Education and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The circular said infections from the new coronavirus sub-variant are rising, necessitating preventive measures.
It also highlighted the need to implement decisions taken at a recent meeting titled “Dengue Awareness: Future Measures” to help combat dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.
This latest set of directives follows an earlier order issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education on June 4.
All educational institutions under the DSHE have been instructed to comply with these health guidelines issued jointly by the ministry and the DGHS.
Dengue prevention guidelines:
To prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases, institutions must implement the outcomes of the “Dengue Awareness: Future Measures” meeting.
Teachers and students in all educational institutions are to be actively involved in awareness campaigns to tackle the dengue threat nationwide.
Covid-19 guidelines:
- Wash hands frequently with soap for at least 20 seconds as required.
- Avoid large gatherings and wear a mask when going outside.
- Maintain a minimum distance of three feet from infected individuals.
- Avoid touching the eyes, nose, and mouth with unclean hands.
- Cover the nose and mouth with an arm, tissue, or cloth while coughing or sneezing.
