The government will start the administration of the fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at seven vaccination centres in Dhaka from December 20.
Professor Dr Ahmedul Kabir, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) made the announcement at a press briefing at the Health Services division's conference room on Tuesday.
“Priority will be given to pregnant women, people suffering from various diseases and frontliners,” he said.
“A minimum of 100 people will be vaccinated in each centre. After that, they will be kept under observation for two weeks. The specified person will be notified the previous day through SMS,” he added.
This experimental administration of Covid-19 dose will continue for 2 weeks. After that, from January 1, people aged above 60 years will be vaccinated across the country, said the additional director general.
The centers where the fourth dose will be given are – Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Mugda Medical College and General Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Government Employee Hospital, Sheikh Russell Gastroliver Hospital and Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.
