The first dose of Covid-19 vaccine will not be available after October 3 this year, Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said.
“A lot of vaccines will expire by this time, so there may be nothing left for first dose administration,” he said at a workshop on Covid-19 vaccine campaign for children aged 5-11 on Saturday.
"After October 3, even administering the second dose of vaccine will become difficult,” he added.
Bangla TribuneThe minister later said that the vaccination program for children aged 5-11 will start at the district and upazila level from October 11.
Urging those who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 yet, the health minister said: “Everyone should get vaccinated quickly. The campaign will start on September 28 and will continue till October 3.”
The minister said that about 3.3 million people are yet to get the first dose, and about 9.4 million are yet to get the second dose. Besides, booster doses were administered to only 40 million people.
