Vaccination of students aged above 12 years will begin after approval from the World Health Organization (WHO), said Health Minister Zahid Maleque.
The minister, while briefing the press at the Secretariat on Monday, said that an application has already been submitted to the WHO seeking approval in this regard.
“They will be brought under our vaccination efforts once we get the approval. We are planning to use Pfizer and Moderna doses for this age group,” Maleque added.

The minister also informed that another 25 million Covid-19 vaccine doses will arrive in Bangladesh by the end of this month.
“Of the shots, 20 million will be of Sinopharm and five million of Pfizer.”
Earlier on September 3, Education Minister Dipu Moni had said that students above 12 will be vaccinated following the government plan to reopen the country’s schools and colleges from September 12.
She said: “Most of our teachers have already been vaccinated. Now, we will start administering vaccines to students aged above 12.”
