Md Shahriar Alam, the state minister for foreign affairs and Rajshahi 6 MP, has tested positive for Covid-19.
Mohammad Sirajul Islam, the state minister’s assistant personal secretary, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Friday night.
The lawmaker is the latest member of the Cabinet to be diagnosed with Covid-19. He is also the latest Awami League MP to test positive for the viral disease.
Awami League MP Mahbubul Alam Hanif also tested positive for Covid-19 couple of days ago.

The Covid-19 death toll in the country currently stands at 6,159, with 19 new deaths recorded in a 24-hour span till Friday morning.
Meanwhile, 1,767 fresh cases were logged in the same time frame, pushing up the numbers to 428,965 infections since the first Covid-19 patients were detected on March 8.
The novel coronavirus broke out in China's Wuhan city in late December last year and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.
The fast spreading coronavirus has claimed 1,303,724 lives and infected 53,395,502 people across the world till Friday night, according to Worldometer.
As many as 37,266,278 people have recovered from the disease which has spread to 213 countries and territories across the planet.
