Bangladesh overtakes Italy

Bangladesh registered yet another grim mark as it went past Italy in terms of the number of coronavirus cases.

With 246,803 cases, Italy is now the 16th most affected country across the world. But logging the new cases between Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, Bangladesh leapt two notches up, to leave behind the European country, which was once a red zone of the global pandemic.

2nd in Asia in active cases

Bangladesh currently hosts 102, 521 active cases, thus, becoming the second country in Asia to have the harrowing feat, following India, which has 597,902, according to Worldometers as of 4pm on Thursday.

It is worth mentioning that Bangladesh has been in the same position in Asia in terms of having active cases for the last few weeks. But the South Asian nation is currently ranked 9th on the global chart, with the US leading the world with 2,271,254 cases.
