Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said the Covid-19 infection and death rates are both decreasing, however, the number of cases can increase again during Eid-ul-Azha.
“Day by day, the Covid-19 infection and death rates are both decreasing. We hope it will be reduced further,” said the minister at the Secretariat on Thursday noon.
Currently, 60% of hospital beds, dedicated for Covid-19 patients, are vacant, which proves the number of patients is declining, he added.
The minister also said as Eid-ul-Azha is coming, people will go to the cattle market which can increase the number of Covid-19 cases again.
In some flood affected areas, people have taken shelter in congested places while in some areas, people cannot maintain the social distance. These reasons can also contribute to the increase in number of cases during Eid, he added.
Zahid Maleque also signed the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) for 2020-21 fiscal year with the departments of health ministry. The ministry’s top officials were present in the program.
