Dr Zafrullah: Coronavirus yet to reach its peak in Bangladesh

He made the remarks at a discussion held in Gonoshasthaya Hospital on Thursday, reports Bangla Tribune

Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) Founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury said that the coronavirus situation in Bangladesh has not reached its peak as yet and criticised the government’s efforts in tackling the pandemic.

“The government is not thinking about how the coronavirus crisis will be solved. The peak has not come yet. When it spreads to the villages in the next one or two months, the peak will appear,” Dr Zafrullah said.

He made the remarks at a discussion held in Gonoshasthaya Hospital on Thursday, reports Bangla Tribune.

The discussion meeting was organized to celebrate Dr Zafrullah’s recovery from coronavirus. Additionally, further discussions were held on “Coronavirus vs. World Capital Market: Bangladesh’s Budget FY2020-21”. 

At the meeting, Dr Zafrullah said: “It is unbelievable how many of you have prayed for me. I didn't know that a man can be loved so much by people.”

He added: “I received people’s love while fighting in '71. Now I am getting your love again.”

He also presented a written account of the cost at the coronavirus unit in their hospital.

Mentioning that a strong healthcare system is needed to free the country from coronavirus, Dr Zafrullah said: 'If you look at the budget, there are some directions. It is not possible to implement it without people raising their voice.”

Mentioning that if the rules of the national drug policy were transformed, the price of the drugs in the country would be halved, Dr Zafrullah said: "For this change, people have to raise their voice."

Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Dr Bijon Kumar Sil, Dr Mohib Ullah Khandaker, Dr Najib Mohammad, Ducsu VP Nurul Haque Nur, and others were present at the meeting.
