A policeman died from Covid-19 (coronavirus) on Friday night, undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Christian Mission Hospital.
Sub-Inspector Mosharraf Hossain, 57, who passed away, hails from Pabna. He was posted to the Naogaon Range Reserved Force (RRF).
Doctor Saiful Ferdous Mohammad Khairul Ataturk, deputy director of Rajshahi Medical College, said Mosharraf was hospitalised around 7pm and was diagnosed with the coronavirus infection.
He died around 11:30pm, undergoing treatment at the hospital, added the official.
He will be buried following standard procedure. The police department has been informed of his death, confirmed Naogaon Civil Surgeon Saiful Ferdous, and Superintendent of Police, Abdul Mannan Miah.
So far 11 policemen in the country have died from Covid-19.
