European Union (EU) countries are seeking their citizens’ safe return from Bangladesh by special chartered flights.
Confirming the matter, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman, Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, told Dhaka Tribune: “European Union member countries contacted us seeking permission for departure of multiple special flights.”
We will allow their citizens to return only by one way (departure) flights. More special chartered flights may leave for Australia and South Korea soon, he added.
Meanwhile, 178 Russian citizens have left Dhaka for Moscow by a special chartered flight of Russian Airlines, Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman confirmed.
The chartered flight departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6pm on Monday, with some Russian diplomats present.
CAAB chairman also said, most of the Russians who left Dhaka are engineers, sector experts in various fields, and most of them worked at Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Pabna.
Previously, around 1500 American, Japanese and Bhutanese citizens left Dhaka for their countries on six flights.
