An elderly man died suffering from coronavirus symptoms (cold, breathing problems, and fever) in west Lakshmipur village of Lakshmipur Sadar upazila early Thursday.
After the 70-year-old man passed away, 15 neighbouring families were put under lock down, said the district’s Civil Surgeon Dr Abdul Gaffar.
A team of doctors went to the deceased’s house to collect samples, which will be sent to Dhaka for tests to find out if the person had coronavirus infection, said the civil surgeon.
Two Italy returnees had been staying in home quarantine at his residence, however, their samples had not been sent for test.
The man was admitted to Lakshmipur Sadar hospital on Wednesday night after he caught fever and diarrhea. His family members said he was ill for sometime.
Lakshmipur police station OC Azizur Rahman said: “We deployed police in front of their house so that no one can get out. Police will provide their daily necessities at door step.”
