16 DIGs forced into retirement

16 DIGs and one additional DIG retired with immediate effect in public interest

The government has sent 16 deputy inspectors general (DIGs) and one additional DIG of the Bangladesh Police into compulsory retirement.

The information was disclosed in a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday, signed by Senior Secretary Manzur Morshed Chowdhury.

According to the notification, the officials will receive retirement benefits as per existing rules, and the order has been made effective immediately in the public interest.

Those sent into retirement include DIG Mofiz Uddin Ahmed of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, DIG Imtiaz Ahmed of the Highway Police, DIG Md Habibur Rahman of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), DIG Saleh Mohammad Tanvir of Police Headquarters, DIG Md Harun-ur-Rashid, director of National Security Intelligence (NSI), DIG SM Akhtaruzzaman of the Police Staff College in Dhaka, DIG Md Haider Ali Khan, commandant of the Police Training Centre (PTC) in Noakhali, DIG Md Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan, commandant of Khulna PTC, DIG Md Ruhul Amin of the Tourist Police, DIG Md Rafiqul Hasan Gani of the Highway Police, DIG Md Mizanur Rahman of the Naval Police, Commissioner Md Majid Ali of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, DIG Quazi Zia Uddin of Police Headquarters, DIG Md Golam Raufe Khan of the Railway Police, DIG Sheikh Mohammad Rezaul Haider, Commandant of Rangpur PTC, and DIG Rockfar Sultana Khanam of the Highway Police.

In addition, Farhat Ahmed, superintendent of Railway Police and holding the rank of supernumerary Additional DIG, has also been sent into retirement.
