The government has sent 17 police officers, including three deputy inspectors general (DIGs), into compulsory retirement.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification in this regard on Thursday.
Those who have been sent into retirement also include 12 additional DIGs and two officials holding the rank of superintendent of police.
According to the notification, the action was taken under Section 45 of the Public Service Act, 2018 in "public interest."
