The Interim Government on Thursday approved the official holiday calendar for 2026, comprising a total of 28 days, including 17 that fall on working days.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Advisory Council held at the office of Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus. The council’s approval covers both executive and general holidays.
At a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said nine of the 28 holidays coincide with Fridays and Saturdays, leaving 17 holidays that occur on weekdays. These 17 working-day holidays have been formally approved by the council.
