The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has appointed Mohammad Akhtar Hossain as its chief economist.
His contractual appointment came into effect from July 1, which will continue for two years until June 30, 2027, said an office order of the central bank on Monday.
Akhtar's employment will be governed by the terms and conditions specified in the contract signed with the Bangladesh Bank on July 1, it added.
