He urged protesters to wait for the meeting outcome and not announce any programs

Update : 16 Jun 2025, 02:06 PM

Dr Asif Nazrul, adviser to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, has urged government officials and employees not to obstruct official activities in the name of protest at the Secretariat.

He made the call while speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Monday.

The law adviser said that the committee formed by the Ministry of Public Administration is holding a meeting on Monday to discuss the demand for scrapping the Public Service Ordinance.

The committee’s decision will be placed before the Advisory Council.

Until then, he urged the demonstrators to refrain from announcing or undertaking any programs and to wait for the outcome.

He further said that the interim government is committed to ensuring justice for enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.

To that end, the government is forming a commission on disappearances and a law to prevent such incidents is expected to be enacted within the next month.

Notably, following the 10-day Eid-ul-Azha holiday, government offices reopened on Sunday.

On the second working day, Monday, the platform of government employees—the Government Officers-Employees Unity Council resumed their protests.

Shortly after 11am, they gathered at Badam Tala in the Secretariat and marched towards the new Cabinet Bhaban, where they are currently staging a demonstration.
