Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Wednesday instructed all relevant authorities to take appropriate measures to ensure that no one travels on train roofs, thereby risking their lives ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

"We have been trying our best to make sure that passengers cannot travel on the train roof. We will not allow it," Jahangir  said while responding to a question after visiting the Kamalapur Railway Station in the capital.

He also called upon the media to play its due role in raising public awareness about the dangers of travelling on train roofs.

In response to another question, the home adviser said that railway ticket black marketing has almost disappeared.

"The complaints of railway ticket black marketing have reduced to an almost zero level," he said.

Jahangir also vowed to take tougher legal action against those involved in ticket black marketing, if any remain.

The home adviser noted that all preparations have already been completed to ensure a smooth and pleasant journey for homebound passengers.

"There will be no trouble. Thirty-one trains have already left Kamalapur Railway Station. Four to five trains have been delayed by five to six minutes," he said.

He added that 35 more trains are scheduled to depart from Kamalapur Railway Station on Wednesday without any delay.
