Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has asked police personnel at the field level to work with utmost sincerity so that people across the country can celebrate Eid-ul-Azha in a festive and peaceful manner.
“Work with earnestness to ensure celebration of the Eid-ul-Azha across the country amidst festivity,” he said while presiding over a virtual meeting with all metropolitan police commissioners, deputy inspector generals of all ranges and district superintendents of police, from the Police Headquarters on Tuesday morning.
The police chief stressed the need for collective efforts from metropolitan, district, highway, railway, tourist and river police as well as specialized units of the force for better outcomes of police efforts to uphold law and order.
He instructed officers to ensure uninterrupted transportation of sacrificial animals by preventing the forced transfer of animals from one market to another and by stopping the setup of cattle markets along highways.
The IGP called for constant vigilance to stop the circulation of counterfeit currencies, as well as robbery and extortion in the cattle markets, alongside other markets and shopping malls, to ensure proper security.
