The government has appointed Md Ali Hossain Fakir as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), promoting him from the rank of additional IGP.
The announcement was made through a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday.
Fakir was also serving as the chief of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn).
Ali Hossain Fakir is a member of the 15th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) cadre. He hails from Bagerhat District.
