Officials can no longer take family members on official foreign trips

Travel sponsored by contractors or supplier companies is strictly prohibited too

The interim government has issued new directives under the revised guidelines, regarding foreign travel by government officials that officials will no longer be permitted to include their spouses or children as travel companions during official foreign visits.

Additionally, travel sponsored by contractors or supplier companies is strictly prohibited.

A circular to this effect, signed by chief secretary to the Chief Adviser’s Office, M Siraj Uddin Miah, was issued on March 23.

The Cabinet Division has recently circulated the directive to various ministries.

Letters have also been sent to all senior secretaries and secretaries of ministries and divisions from the Chief Adviser’s Office.

The circular specifies that government officials must refrain from undertaking foreign trips funded by contractors or suppliers.

Furthermore, unless absolutely necessary, personal secretaries or assistant personal secretaries to advisers, senior secretaries, or secretaries should avoid accompanying them on such trips.

It is clearly stated that, in official foreign visits, government officials are not permitted to include their spouses or children as companions.
