Five decisions have been taken to address various issues faced by the police force.
The decisions were made during a meeting on Wednesday, attended by the chief adviser, the home adviser, and other relevant officials.
Earlier, on March 17, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus held a meeting with field-level police officers, where they informed him about their benefits and challenges. Following up on that discussion, the chief adviser convened Wednesday’s meeting to resolve police-related issues.
During the discussion, the chief adviser instructed immediate action on several matters concerning the welfare of grassroots-level police officers. These include:
- Considering the removal of the existing ceiling on risk allowances.
- Initiating the purchase of 364 new pickup trucks and 140 prisoner vans for the police.
- Releasing funds for ongoing police construction projects where less than 70% of work has been completed.
- Allocating funds to acquire land for 65 police stations currently operating in rented buildings.
- Considering interest-free loans for sub-inspectors (SIs) and assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) to purchase motorcycles.
The chief adviser emphasized the need to evaluate district police performance based on work results. Measures should be taken to improve the efficiency of districts with relatively lower performance.
Additionally, he instructed the police to begin preparations for ensuring a peaceful election and to take necessary actions accordingly.
