A total of 26 candidates have been recommended for appointment as Trainee Recruit Constables (TRC) in Thakurgaon through what district police described as a transparent and merit-based recruitment process.
Among the selected candidates are two women and five members of ethnic minority communities. Families of the successful applicants expressed relief and joy following the publication of the final results.
Thakurgaon Police Superintendent Belal Hossain confirmed this information to local journalists on Sunday night.
He said the recruitment process was conducted with ‘100% transparency’ and without any scope for irregularities.
The final selection process was completed between midnight on May 23 and 9pm on May 24 at Thakurgaon Police Lines.
Ahead of the recruitment, awareness meetings were held in Thakurgaon Sadar, Pirganj, Ranishankail and Haripur upazilas to discourage lobbying, brokerage and other unfair practices. During the meetings, the superintendent of police explained the recruitment procedure and assured candidates that the process would remain transparent.
According to district police sources, 2,650 candidates applied for the TRC posts after the circular was published. Of them, 258 passed the physical fitness test and 250 sat for the written examination. Later, 50 candidates qualified for the viva stage, while 26 were finally selected following oral and psychological tests. A waiting list of five candidates was also published.
