Army chief calls on chief adviser

General Waker-uz-Zaman briefs Dr Muhammad Yunus on security, army operations, and his visit to Central African Republic

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-uz-Zaman paid a courtesy call on Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus at the latter's official residence, State Guest House Jamuna, on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the army provided a comprehensive briefing on the country's overall security landscape and the ongoing operational activities of the Bangladesh Army, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) press release.

Additionally, there were discussions on various strategic initiatives undertaken by the army to contribute to national development and ensure long-term stability.

Furthermore, the chief of army staff apprised the chief adviser of his recent visit to the Central African Republic, expressing confidence that the visit would strengthen bilateral relations and foster enhanced military cooperation between the two nations.

In addition, he presented an update on the findings and recommendations of the recently concluded high-level committee tasked with ensuring justice for "deprived" army officers.

General Waker further informed the chief adviser about the progress of the ongoing senior-level review concerning the reinstatement procedures for JCOs and other ranks who were dismissed under various circumstances.

Towards the conclusion of the meeting, the chief adviser was briefed on the initiatives undertaken by the Bangladesh Army to provide medical assistance to students and civilians injured during the July uprising.
