The central committee formed by the Home Ministry on recommending the withdrawal of politically motivated and harassing cases has so far suggested lifting 6,202 cases.
Headed by Law Adviser Professor Asif Nazrul, the committee has held eight meetings to assess the cases and determine their merit for withdrawal, said a media release of the ministry issued on Sunday.
During the eight meetings, proposals were placed to the central committee to withdraw 6,295 cases.
It also highlighted that during the 15-year tenure of the ousted government, a number of cases were filed against people, which were deemed politically motivated or meant to harass opponents.
