The government is committed to ensuring that the perpetrator of child rape in Magura does not escape justice, said Home Affairs Adviser Lt General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Sunday.

He made this comment while visiting the child, who is undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

A case has been filed with Magura Sadar police station, and all four accused have been arrested in connection with the incident, the home adviser said.

"I have directed law enforcement agencies to take a tough stance against the harassment and rape of women. I have also instructed the concerned authorities to submit reports to the court after completing a swift investigation, compiling a list of all cases of violence against women so far," he said.

He affirmed that the criminals involved in recent rape incidents will be brought to justice and strictly punished.

Jahangir also emphasized that women should be able to carry out their duties fearlessly, both at home and outside.

He warned that those attempting to obstruct them will be held accountable under the law.

He further said that everyone should be aware of and vocal against violence against women, stressing the importance of nurturing family, social, and moral values.

During his visit to CMH, the adviser inquired about the child's treatment and instructed hospital authorities to ensure the highest level of medical care.

Senior CMH officials were also present.

Earlier, on March 6, upon learning about the incident, the adviser contacted the child's mother over the phone and assured her of the government's full support for the child's treatment.

The victim was transferred to CMH from Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Saturday for better medical care.

The horrific rape of the minor girl in Magura has sparked protests across the country.
