Cabinet Division urges offices, homes to keep AC temp at 25 degrees Celsius

Ramadan, summer, and irrigation season will increase electricity demand

Update : 23 Feb 2025, 05:24 PM

The Cabinet Division has requested that air conditioners (ACs) in government and private offices, as well as households, be set to a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius or higher.

The Cabinet Division issued a circular on Sunday regarding the regulation of AC temperature to ensure efficient electricity consumption.

According to the circular, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has advised setting the minimum AC temperature at 25 degrees Celsius in government and private offices and households to ensure energy efficiency.

The circular said that this year, Ramadan, summer, and the irrigation season will begin simultaneously, leading to a significant rise in electricity demand.

Controlling AC thermostat settings can help manage this increased demand.

In this context, all government, autonomous, statutory, and private institutions are requested to implement the decision to set AC temperatures at 25 degrees Celsius or higher.

Additionally, the circular instructed the Ministry of Commerce to inform the private sector of this decision through various business organizations.

It also requested the Ministry of Social Welfare and the NGO Affairs Bureau to notify private voluntary organizations.
