Nine government officials are set to be promoted to the position of secretary within the next two to three days, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Md Mokhlesur Rahman has said.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday, he said the newly appointed secretaries would be assigned to vacant ministries.
“We have finalized the promotion of 12 secretaries in four SSB meetings under difficult circumstances. Most of those being promoted this time were previously overlooked despite their qualifications. None of them are on a contractual basis; all are being promoted from within the service,” he added.
Currently, secretary positions remain vacant in the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Bridges Division, Planning Commission, National Parliament Secretariat, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Ministry of Commerce, Implementation, Training and Evaluation Division (IMED), Statistics and Information Management Division, and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
