The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has finalized the draft of the Government Service (Verifying Pre-identification of Candidates) Rules, 2025.

The new rules have been designed to be candidate-friendly, aiming to prevent harassment of recommended candidates and eliminate discrimination, according to a PSC press release issued on Monday.

The draft rules clearly outline the circumstances under which a candidate may be deemed unfit for government service.

It also proposes informing candidates of the reasons for their declaration as unfit.

Additionally, the proposal includes providing candidates with the opportunity to file an appeal for reconsideration.

If desired by the appointing authority, there will be a provision to re-investigate the case of the unsuitable candidate.

In the draft rules, it is recommended that this regulation be issued for all categories of government employees under the Government Service Act of 2018.

The release said that the rule will be sent to the Ministry of Public Administration for further processing, where it will be reviewed.

This rule will apply to police verification in all government jobs, including the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).

Furthermore, the commission has agreed in principle to amend the Non-Cadre Rules of 2023, with a final decision to be made in the next meeting.

The release also confirmed that a final decision has been made regarding the examination for the position of deputy assistant engineer in the railways.

The examination will be conducted in three phases: preliminary test, written examination, and viva voce.
