The government on Sunday called on journalists to submit information, along with proof, about harassment cases filed against them since July 1.
The committee, formed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to oversee these harassment cases, made this decision during its inaugural meeting, according to an official handout.
Additional Secretary Dr Md Altaf-Ul-Alam presided over the meeting.
Journalists seeking remedies can send their applications personally or with recommendations from their editors in PDF format, using the specific chart provided by the committee, to [email protected].
All applications must include attestation, proof, and admissible evidence, as mentioned in the handout.
The term "journalists" refers to those defined under Section 2(g) of the Press Council Act, 1974.
This includes journalists working in audio-visual and digital or online media as defined in the relevant laws.
The handout clarified that information regarding any case involving personal liability beyond professional duties cannot be submitted.
