Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam has announced that journalists will receive a reward if they can provide information about Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.

He said that government has no information on Obaidul Quader.

On the matter of arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Tribunal against Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader, and the efforts to bring them back to the country, the adviser said: "The Foreign Affairs Adviser has already addressed this issue in detail in the media. We have an agreement with India regarding this, and we will certainly follow that agreement."

Speaking to journalists after visiting the BGB Headquarters in Rajshahi on Saturday, he also addressed several key issues, including actions against politically appointed BCS officers, delays in police operations, and corruption in the agriculture sector.

Politically appointed BCS officers to face action

The adviser said that swift measures will be taken against BCS officers appointed under political influence during the previous government’s tenure.

He said: “The fascist government has been making appointments for the past 15 years. A decision must be made regarding this issue. While some appointments were made on merit, those recruited through political connections will face necessary actions."

He also said that 187 officers who did not join the police force are now considered "terrorists."

He said: "If they are apprehended, they will be arrested immediately. The police are not yet fully operational, but progress has been made since the August 5 incident."

Regarding corruption in the fertilizer sector, he confirmed that significant wrongdoing has been identified, and an investigation is underway.

"Some individuals have already been brought under legal action," he said, adding that efforts to mechanize agriculture are ongoing to enhance the sector's efficiency.
