There is no specific threat concerning Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community in Bangladesh, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said.
"Regardless, we have taken various steps to ensure smooth and peaceful Puja celebrations,” he said in response to a query after visiting Ramna Kali Mandir in the capital.
The home adviser said that the Hindu community will be able to celebrate their festival peacefully, as law enforcement agencies have implemented necessary security measures.
The Home Ministry issued eight-point directives for local administrations and law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order during the Durga Puja celebrations nationwide.
“We have set up arrangements through the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) to ensure that any occurrences are reported immediately,” he added.
He emphasized the importance of cooperation from everyone to facilitate smooth worship activities.
Praising the Puja Udjapan Committee, he said that community members have made excellent arrangements and volunteered to fulfill their duties around the clock.
