Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said she has released Tk1,000 crore to construct 50,000 more houses for the homeless and landless people.
“I released Tk1,000 crore today [Thursday] for constructing 50,000 more houses for the homeless and landless people, marking the Mujib Borsho,” Hasina said while speaking at the virtual oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, from her Ganabhaban residence.
Hasina also said the government is constructing 100,000 more homes for the homeless.
She asked the public representatives to identify the homeless and landless people, as the government is committed to giving them homes within the Mujib Borsho, which was extended till December 16, 2021.
“Our target in the Mujib Borsho is that no one will remain homeless and landless in Bangladesh,” Hasina said.
The prime minister also called upon the public representatives to work harder in order to serve the people of the nation.
She asked them to motivate people of their localities about taking the Covid-19 vaccine, at the same program.
Hasina wants the public representatives to also make sure that the development of the country continues in future and to monitor the actions taken by the government ensuring the overall socio-economic development of the country as soon as possible.
