The government has appointed Brig Gen AKM Mustafa Kamal Pasha as the new inspector general (IG) of prisons, states a notification issued on Wednesday by the Ministry of Public Administration, reports BSS.
Mustafa has been serving as the commandant of the Armed Forces Medical Institute in the Dhaka Cantonment.
The brigadier general is also a member in both the Senate and Syndicate committees of the Bangladesh University of Professionals.
Mustafa will replace Brig Gen Syed Iftekhar Uddin, who has been sent back to the Bangladesh Army.
Iftekhar was appointed as the IG prisons in December 2013.
Before that, he had served as the director (Stores and Depot) of the Health Directorate’s Central Medical Stores Depot under the Health Ministry.
