Emphasising six points in discussions, including the stopping of yaba smuggling, a four-day conference between the Director General of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Chief of Border Guard Police (BGP) in Myanmar is expected to be held from June 10 to June 13.
The move came following the killing of a BGB member by the BGP in recent time.
According to the BGB official sources, the conference would be held at Nay Pyi Taw city in Myanmar.
An eight-member delegation led by Maj Gen Aziz Ahmed, the DG of the BGB, is expected to leave Dhaka on June 9 to attend the conference.
On the other hand, a 13-member delegation team led by Major General Zaw Win, Chief of Myanmar Police Force, is expected to attend the conference scheduled to be held in Myanmar.
Officials at the BGB said the main target of the border conference among the top officials of the BGB and BGP is to develop the border situation.
Other issues of the conference are to stopping of the smuggling of yaba and other drugs, establishments of direct communications between the commanders of different levels of officers in the border forces from both the countries, stopping of firing among the border forces, launching of a Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP), solving problems of the fishermen in Naf river and Bay of Bengal and also increase confidence among the forces of both the countries.
The BGB officials also said a Joint Record of Discussions (JRD) is expected to be signed between the border forces of both the countries during the conference on June 12.
Besides, during the border conference, the BGB chief is expected to call on with the home minister of Myanmar and other concern authorities of the country.
