The Philippines will begin issuing e-visas to Bangladeshi citizens from Monday, replacing sticker visas for travellers visiting the country for tourism purposes.
Under the new system, eligible Bangladeshi nationals seeking temporary entry to the Philippines can apply online through the official e-visa portal.
The Philippine Embassy said applicants must submit their applications through the online platform, while e-visa fees will continue to be paid at the embassy until further notice.
Once approved, the e-visa can be downloaded through a computer or mobile device and presented to immigration authorities either digitally or in printed form.
The embassy also advised travellers to complete the online Philippine e-Travel Registration Form only after receiving their e-visa and within 72 hours before departure to avoid inconvenience at entry points.
According to the embassy, the e-visa cannot be converted into another visa category, and the authorised period of stay cannot be extended.
Foreign nationals intending to travel to the Philippines for purposes other than tourism, including study or employment, will still need to apply for a regular sticker visa through the embassy.
The e-visa fees have been set at Tk8,580 for a single-entry visa, Tk13,860 for a multiple-entry visa valid for six months, and Tk19,140 for a multiple-entry visa valid for one year.
