Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma on Monday proposed several capacity-building initiatives for journalists and media professionals under the Government of India’s Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme.
He made the proposal during a courtesy call on Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan at his office at the Secretariat.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the information and broadcasting sector, with a particular focus on strengthening engagement between media and broadcasting institutions of the two countries. They also agreed on increasing exchange visits of media delegations to further promote people-to-people ties and deepen mutual understanding.
Pranay Verma also stated, as part of these initiatives, a special training course for Bangladeshi women journalists is expected to be organized in India soon.
The meeting also featured discussions on organizing film screenings and film festivals between the two countries.
