A total of 30 flights were cancelled from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday due to the security situation in the Middle East.

Kawsar Mahmud, an official of the Public Relations Department of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), confirmed the information.

He said that several Middle Eastern countries—including Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan—closed their airspace on February 28 due to the security situation in the region.

“As a result, we were forced to cancel flights from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport,” he said.

According to CAAB sources, 23 flights were cancelled on February 28, 40 on March 1, 46 on March 2, 39 on March 3, 28 on March 4, 36 on March 5 and 33 on March 6.

With these, the total number of cancelled flights during the period stands at 245.
