China has expressed its readiness to work with Bangladesh to maintain the "steady" development of their Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
In a statement issued on Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Beijing was prepared to further strengthen cooperation and deepen bilateral ties with Dhaka.
According to the statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Bangladesh’s parliamentary election was completed smoothly and successfully. It noted that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) led the polls and, based on preliminary vote counting, secured more than half of the seats in parliament.
The statement also expressed the expectation that BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will assume the office of Prime Minister.
China reaffirmed its willingness to work closely with Bangladesh to promote stable and sustained growth in bilateral relations under the framework of their Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
