Bangladesh Ambassador to Mexico Mushfiqul Fazal (Ansarey) has reiterated the importance of expediting the process of establishing a Mexican embassy in Dhaka to further enhance diplomatic and trade relations.
He made the call when he met Mexican Foreign Ministry Chief of Protocol Jonathan Chait Auerbach and handed him a copy of his letter of credence in Mexico city on Thursday, according to a message received on Friday.
The new Bangladeshi ambassador will formally present his credentials to the Mexican president at a later date, it added.
During the meeting, Mushfiqul highlighted the longstanding and friendly ties between Bangladesh and Mexico and expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation extended by the Mexican Foreign Ministry.
The ambassador also highlighted the key reform initiatives introduced by the interim government of Bangladesh led by Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus.
He said these initiatives aim to foster good governance, democracy, political reforms, economic development and a free, fair, and inclusive election.
The chief of protocol commended Mushfiqul for his significant contributions, particularly his unwavering advocacy for human rights, democracy and press freedom in the global arena.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and fostering closer ties between the two nations.
Director General (DG) for Asia-Pacific at the Mexican Foreign Ministry Fernando González Saiffe was present during the meeting.
