The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria has agreed to issue visas to 122 Bangladeshi students from its embassies located in Vietnam and Indonesia.
Additionally, Bangladeshi students may obtain visas for Romania from its embassies in Vietnam and Thailand.
This information was disclosed on Monday during the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ weekly briefing by the ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam.
He said: “Due to limited Indian visa operations in Bangladesh, Bangladeshi students have been facing difficulties in obtaining visas from the embassies of Bulgaria and Romania in Delhi. In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested Bangladeshi students wishing to travel to Bulgaria and Romania to apply for visas from embassies located in third countries."
“As a result, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has agreed to issue visas to 122 Bangladeshi students from its embassies in Vietnam and Indonesia.”
Mohammad Rafiqul Alam further mentioned: “Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs initially agreed to issue visas from its embassies in Vietnam and Thailand. However, this process was temporarily suspended after some time. Discussions with the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are ongoing to resolve this issue.”
He also informed that, following a recent request from Bangladesh, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has agreed to issue visas to Bangladeshi students interested in higher education from its embassy in Bangkok. Bulgaria has agreed to simplify the visa process for Bangladeshi citizens through VFS Global, and this is currently under process.
The spokesperson added that the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently included Bangladesh in the 10th edition of the “Invest Your Talent” program. Under this program, Bangladeshi students will be eligible to apply for scholarships in Italy starting from the 2025-26 academic year.
Selected students will receive a nine-month scholarship and will have the opportunity to participate in a three-month internship in an Italian organization relevant to their field of study. Students can apply for scholarships in master’s and postgraduate courses in the fields of Engineering, Advanced Technologies, Management, and Architecture Design.
The spokesperson further informed that certain vaccinations have become necessary for travel to Saudi Arabia.
The country has recently made several vaccines mandatory.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Health and Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), it is mandatory for travelers from Bangladesh, whether on Umrah visas or any other visa, to take the meningitis vaccine at least 10 days before traveling to Saudi Arabia.
If this vaccine has been taken within the last three years, a repeat vaccination is not required. Additionally, the Saudi government has instructed all airlines to verify that passengers arriving from or transiting through polio-affected countries have been vaccinated against polio.
