As a former prime minister, Khaleda Zia, and her team, will receive government assistance regarding visas for the BNP chief’s trip to the United Kingdom for treatment, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain has said.

He made the statement while responding to journalists' questions at the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will likely travel to the UK on November 7 for advanced treatment.

In response to questions about arrangements being made by the Foreign Ministry and whether her status as a former prime minister will be ensured during the visit, the adviser said: "Yes, she will go for medical treatment. Since she is going as a former prime minister, we will certainly assist her and her team with the visa process."

"I believe there will not be any issues once she is there. She has her own party [people] there, and we have our mission. We will certainly follow the necessary protocols," he said.

Party leaders say Khaleda Zia will be being taken abroad for better treatment based on the decision of her medical board. Her treatment process will commence in London, and her family and team have been in contact with several hospitals there.

It is reported that doctors are making all necessary preparations to ensure Khaleda Zia has no physical issues when travelling by plane. Party leaders are coordinating various responsibilities to facilitate the process.
