Italian Ambassador to Bangladesh Antonio Alessandro met with Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday to discuss issues of mutual interest.
The meeting took place at the Chief Adviser’s Office (CAO).
On the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also met with Prof Yunus and expressed Italy’s support for the reform process in Bangladesh, emphasizing the goal of improving the population’s social and economic conditions.
The meeting in New York provided an opportunity to discuss migration, with an intention to strengthen cooperation on this issue.
This includes relaunching negotiations to finalize a bilateral agreement to combat irregular migration flows, establish closer cooperation on returns, and support legal pathways.
