Ghanshyam Bhandari, ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh, has expressed his country’s interest in working jointly with Bangladesh, and solidarity with the student-public movement.
Bhandari said this during a meeting with Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, adviser on power, energy and mineral resources, held in the conference room of the ministry on Sunday.
During the meeting, Bhandari congratulated Fouzul on his new role and reaffirmed Nepal’s longstanding recognition of student movements and solidarity with the people of Bangladesh.
He highlighted the historically good relations between Nepal and Bangladesh and expressed optimism that these ties will continue to strengthen in the future.
Fouzul welcomed the ambassador and noted that Nepal has been a long-time friendly neighbour of Bangladesh.
He expressed Bangladesh’s eagerness to enhance commercial relations with Nepal and showed interest in collaborating with Nepal in the energy sector.
The discussion also covered ways to bolster bilateral relations through Saarc (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation).
The meeting included discussions on several key projects, including the purchase of 40 megawatts of hydroelectric power from Nepal, the joint venture to establish the 683-megawatt Sunkoshi-3 hydropower plant, and the import of 500 megawatts of electricity from Nepal’s GMR Upper Karnali Hydropower Limited (GUKHL) under a Power Sale Agreement (PSA).
