Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra’s visit has been postponed.

He was supposed to come on Saturday to have a bilateral meeting with his counterpart Masud Bin Momen and call on Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud.

Foreign Secretary Momen was also scheduled to host a reception in his honour.

The foreign ministry, however, informed that the visit has been postponed. No reason was known.

However, India was preparing on Thursday for the world's largest general election.

The first vote in the seven-phase election will be cast on Friday, with results set for June 4, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi looks set to win a historic third term in the face of a straggling opposition challenge.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to visit India soon after the election.
