Group CEO of budget airline Air Arabia Adel Abdullah Ali said that there is an opportunity to do business in Bangladesh due to its fast-growing economy.
He made the remarks in an event on the occasion of their 20th anniversary on Thursday.
Highlighting UAE based budget carrier -Air Arabia's 17 years of experience in the aviation sector in Bangladesh, he said: “Bangladesh is considered a very important market for their business. There are also business opportunities for upward economic growth.”
He further said: “As the economy is good and more people will travel, we will add more aircraft into our fleet.”
However, he thinks that the increase in ticket prices all over the world was due to the covid-19 and the increase in fuel prices.
He pointed out that many countries have increased the tax rate on various services in the aviation sector to cover their losses during the pandemic, which is almost 70%.
Mentioned the air transport business is very expensive, he said not only Bangladesh, the global aviation sector is facing a dollar crunch while currency and energy are key to the aviation business.
Among others, Rajesh Narula, regional general manager of Air Arabia and MD Abdur Rahim, chief executive officer of MGH, GSA of Air Arabia were present at the event.
In 2004, Air Arabia opened its office in Chittagong, Bangladesh's second largest city, and initially operated one flight a day. It started to fly from Dhaka in 2008.
Now, Air Arabia offers its service to and from Chittagong and Dhaka in Bangladesh from two airports in the UAE, including Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, with a frequency of 57 non-stop flights per week.
