Two cocktails hurled outside PM’s Office, police seek suspects

Police were working to identify and arrest the two suspects who arrived on a motorcycle

Two crude bombs, locally known as cocktails, were hurled outside the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, early Saturday, prompting police to launch an investigation to identify and arrest those involved.

The incident occurred around 1:15am. One of the bombs exploded, while the other was safely detonated in a controlled explosion by the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit.

DMP Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Ibne Mizan said police were working to identify and arrest the two suspects who arrived on a motorcycle.

According to him, the two men reached the area around 1:15am, surveyed their surroundings for two to three minutes, hurled the bombs and fled. Police received information that they headed towards Kafrul via Agargaon.

Ibne Mizan said police teams began investigating immediately after the incident. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras has been collected to help identify the suspects, and the incident is being treated as a priority.
