Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji sent a congratulatory message to Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on her assumption of office as the speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament.
Zhao Leji wrote in the message that China and Bangladesh are neighbours with a long history of friendship, the embassy said.
In recent years, the two countries have conducted frequent high-level exchanges, constantly enhanced political mutual trust, and yielded fruitful results in Belt and Road cooperation.
Zhao said he would like to work together with his Bangladeshi counterpart to further deepen the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the National People's Congress of China and the Parliament of Bangladesh, so as to uplift the China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation to a new height.
