Chinese Communist Party's Vice Minister for International Department Sun Haiyan is coming to Bangladesh.
Foreign Minister Dr Mohammad Hasan Mahmud on Tuesday, replying to a question, confirmed the visit.
He, however, could not share the details, as he arrived from Uganda on Tuesday.
The Chinese leader will arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday night, a foreign ministry official told Dhaka Tribune.
This will be the first visit from the Chinese party after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formed the government for the fourth straight term.
China termed its interference when the US was criticising the move to hold the January 7 elections amid BNP's boycott.
The Chinese vice minister is expected to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, among others.
Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her re-election as prime minister of Bangladesh in a message.
He hoped to uplift the China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation to a new height.
